Mediation Management

ironSource supports leading Ad Networks on the Mediation platform. Once you’ve integrated the network adapter in your code and set up the network on your dashboard, you can serve Mediated ads on your app based on eCPM prediction and geo. Follow this guide to manage your Mediation layer effectively on your dashboard!

Before You Start

Step 1. Navigate to the Mediation Management Page

Once you log in to your ironSource account, go to ‘Monetize‘ ➣ ‘Mediation‘ ➣ ‘Management‘.

Step 2. Select Your Application & Ad Unit

You will see a list of Applications on the left-hand side. Select the app you’ve already set up with ad networks on the mediation platform and would like to manage.

Next, select the Ad Unit tab (Rewarded Video, Interstitial or Banner):

Step 3. Select Geo

Select the country or group that you’d like to define the ad source priority for; use the search bar to find a specific country or click ‘Add‘ to create a new group and drag ‘n drop countries in it.  Creating customized groups of countries helps manage ad networks easier and compare the predicted eCPMs more effectively. For example, by arranging your best performing countries in one group  (for example ‘Top Countries’), you can efficiently gather information on the estimated revenue as well as manage the ad source priority of these specific countries.

You will then see the Ad Source Priority options for the selected geo on the right-hand side.

Note:

  • All group names must be unique.
  • The country groups you define here will only be accessible for the specific application you selected in Step 2.
  • You can only delete groups when they are empty, so you must drag the countries out of the group before deleting it.

Step 4. Define Priority for Mediation Networks

First Time Mediation Setup
We recommend running on Auto Optimized Priority, so the Mediation algorithm can extract data and estimate eCPMs.

Once you’ve selected the geo, you can manage the ad networks’ delivery priority. You will see the ad networks you’ve activated on the SDK Networks module and can manage them according to preference.

Auto Optimized Priority

The Auto Optimized Priority section reflects network prioritization based on real-time optimization through ironSource Mediation algorithm. This means that the ad delivery in your apps from these ad networks will be optimized by highest-ranking eCPM. The Auto Optimized Priority section ensures you always serve the highest paying ads first.

Deals and Multiple Network Instances

New! Create an additional instance of the same ad network with a predetermined eCPM in the waterfall in the Deals section to optimize the ad delivery from one network.
In addition, you can also create Deals without a fixed eCPM that will be set as a single instance in the waterfall.

The Deals Section reflects ad networks with a fixed eCPM. The ad inventory from the networks in this section will be delivered in the order that you’ve positioned them until they reach the cap capping configurations you’ve set. This section is intended for exclusive deals with a particular ad network.

  • To set up a deal, hover over the ad network in question in the Auto Optimized Priority section and select ‘Create Deal‘.ironsource-mediation-management-deals-setup
  • The below window will then appear:
    • If this is the first deal you are creating, you will be prompted to set the eCPM, capping (see more details on this below) and schedule when the deal will end. In the case you’ve already set up a deal, you’ll need to define the network’s position in the waterfall as well.

    • If you would prefer to set a deal without a fixed eCPM, check the ‘No Fixed eCPM‘ box. In this case, the ad network will be set up as a single instance and serve ad delivery based on its position in the Deals section.

    • In the case you’ve already created ad network deals, you will be prompted to position the deal. Deals are served based on the position you set regardless of the eCPM and will serve ads from the ad network until it reaches its defined capping limit. The waterfall will serve the ads based on the order in the Deals section. Once it’s reached the cap for all the ad networks in the Deals section, the waterfall will then serve ad delivery from the ad networks in the Auto Optimization Priority section.
  • Click ‘Save‘. If you’ve set the eCPM, you will then see another allocation of the defined network in the Deals section:

Scheduling & Capping

  • As Deals with other ad networks are usually limited to a certain time span, you can now schedule when an ad network will be switched back to Auto Optimized Priority. This ensures you don’t miss out on the potential revenue of even one ad impression. By default, the end date for the ad network in Manual Priority is scheduled for 7 days after the swap.
  • Cap the amount of ads served in the Deals and Auto Optimization Priority section to optimize the ad inventory served from each network by hovering over the ad network in the Auto Optimization Priority section:

Done!
You have now optimized the ad delivery from mediation networks on the ironSource Mediation platform.
